Halmoni's Pot

A. L. Lee received an MFA in screenwriting from Columbia University. Her screenplay The Legend of Pig-Eye, which is an adaptation of the short story with the same title by Rick Bass, won the top prize in Film Division Screenwriting Competition.

2014 the good boy (15”) has been selected by over 70 film festivals and has won 10 awards for the film including Best Film, Best Foreign Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

2016 Artemis & the Astronaut (15”) produced with funds from NYSCA production grant and funds raise through IFP (Independent Film Projects), Artemis & the Astronaut has been selected to over 30 film festivals and has won Best
Film at three Festivals.

2019, “Purgatory: A Love Story”, short screenplay about a man who insults the wrong witches in Central Park and gets turned into a toad who cannot lie. Finalist, 2019 Nantucket Film Festival.

2020 “Lucky Gods”, pilot, about Chinese folk and Taoist Gods who must become humans to save their temple from a greedy real estate developer, and in doing so, become immigrants to a
city they were Gods to. Second round of Sundance Pilot Lab.

2021/22 “Hot pot”, a feature screenplay, was selected for the Stowe Narrative Lab, second round of Sundance, finalist at SF Indie Fest Screenplay Competition, semi-finalist at Blue Cat
Screenplay Competition, and selected to Toronto International Women Film Festival.

2022/23, directed "Halmoni's Pot", (post-production) proof of concept film for "Hot Pot". A dutiful Korean grandma reluctantly agrees to pick up pot for her grandson. But pay full price? NEVER!

She originally trained as a violinist at the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory.

She lives in New York City with her husband, two sons and two cats.
